Amanda Hussain is a highly experienced TV and radio broadcaster and voice over artist. She currently travels between London and Paris, inspiring her blog http://skinnycapinparis.blogspot.com/
Her distinctive husky voice is regularly used for television documentaries, continuity and major corporate campaigns including Lenor Infusions, the Oli Style Catalogue and Jaguar cars. Amanda is known for her warm yet informative presenting style and she often fronts corporate films where her BBC News background proves useful.
With some fifteen years in the industry, she launched her television career presenting BBC2's Network East, a live 40 minute Asian arts programme. Amanda worked as a reporter/presenter for BBC London News and BBC South Today and has interviewed scores of high profile names - everyone from Tom Cruise to David Cameron and Johnny Depp to Salman Rushdie.
She first cut her teeth as a journalist while at university studying film, writing for the Sheffield Telegraph and went on to become the film editor for the Sheffield City Press. After graduation, this led to TV presenting at Live TV as their film critic and showbiz reporter.
Amanda started radio presenting with Liberty, hosting a weekly three hour music radio show and was the station's resident film critic. More movie reporting followed as the presenter of Exclusive, a film review show on LBC 1152 AM. Amanda also had her own regular entertainment slot on GSB's Showbiz UK and presented a poker game show live on Sky Vegas.
Formerly at GLR, then BBC London 94.9 FM, Amanda had her own show, The Entertainment Zone, as well as co-presenting drivetime and the weekend breakfast show. She has been a regular pundit for BBC Radio 5-Live and LBC, where she had her own film review slot and had her own weekend breakfast show, as well as covering the weekday breakfast, drive and mid-morning phone-in shows on BBC Asian Network.
Amanda was the Entertainment Correspondent at ITN's News Direct 97.3, presenting and producing the arts reports, including broadcasting live from Cannes, as well as voicing their corporate advertising.
Not only does she have broadcasting skills and an intimate knowledge of the film and arts world but also has producing experience which she gained at Cosgrove Hall Films on the Emmy award-winning film, Peter and the Wolf. This knowledge came to play when she wrote and presented the entertainment series, Popcorn, for BBC Choice.
Amanda is mum to daughter, Lola and son, Ripley and is studying wine and French in Paris. A career highlight was making a BBC film taking the late Oscar winning director Anthony Minghella back to his roots on the Isle of Wight. Staying with film, she specialises in providing on-set movie interviews and prides herself on getting a meaty rapport with even the most difficult actors. So far, she refuses to name names!
