Katy Carmichael on Spotlight

Katy Carmichael has been working in television, theatre and film for the last 25 years in a variety of dramatic and comedic roles. Most notably Twist in the cult comedy Spaced, Lucy Barlow, the bigamist florist in Coronation Street and Melissa Ryan in Waterloo Road. Other Television work includes leading regular roles in Casualty, Liverpool One, Infinite Worlds of HG Wells. More recently she has been in The Miniaturist, Safe and Disney’s Christopher Robin.

On stage Katy has played opposite Steven Berkoff, toured internationally with Kneehigh Theatre and performed leading roles at theatres throughout UK, including Manchester Royal Exchange and Bristol Old Vic.

She's Artistic director of Theatre Damfino and the food entertainment company Table Of Delights, whose award-wining productions have toured from Bristol Old Vic to New York.


 Katy has voiced a range of commercials in her native soft Liverpool / Northern including Ariel, Tetley, B&Q, Blackhorse, Flybe and Yazoo. She is a popular choice for children's television promos and was the voice for the Cadbury's Coronation Street  idents. Her TV narration includes documentaries on Will & Kate, The Osbourne’s, Kylie Minogue and Liverpool. She has read a wide variety of audio books from classics to comedy, character reads, self help books and Young Adult fiction. She has performed in many BBC Radio 4 plays and co-created the afternoon play Mayday Mayday (USA winner of third coast award and Drama of the Year and drama finalist - Radio 4)
