Karen Ascoe on Spotlight

Karen trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she won the BBC Carleton Hobbs Award, and along with it, a place on the BBC Radio Drama Company.

Her career as an actress and voice over has spanned tv, film, theatre, radio, musicals, commercials, tv documentaries, video games and audio books.

Karen’s theatre work has taken her all over the UK, and all over the world, as well as several West End shows and New York productions. Notable recent credits include Prospera (in an acclaimed open-air production of The Tempest), the UK presentation of the award-winning Broadway musical ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ and playing the misanthropic Patricia Highsmith in the powerful two-hander, ‘Switzerland’.

On TV Karen has appeared in numerous dramas and comedies: My Mad Fat Diary, Cuckoo, W1A, Coronation Street, The Sex Pistols vs Bill Grundy

Most recently Karen has been lending her voice to tv commercials for Hachette/Disney and voicing on  Watch Dogs: Legion, along with several other hotly anticipated video games due for release in 2021.

She is also recording a series of children’s fantasy adventure audio books: Below the Green by A. R Hetherington.
